Hoffmann Foundation for Autism Prize Competition and Exhibition 2018/19

Written on 17th July 2018 by Hoffmann Staff

Dear Participants:

We have been very lucky in our supporters and in particular the generosity of the Shirley Foundation who have been providing cash prizes ever since we began. Special mention must also be made of Paul Rogers of PJR creative buildings who has contributed an inspired prize this year, intended to stimulate the imagination of our artists. The portrait prize is also new this year and probably presents the biggest challenge of all. All entrants are eligible for the main prize but you should indicate on your entry form if you also intend your work to be entered for either of the prizes designated as ‘The Building(s) of the Future’ or ‘The Portrait Prize’.

  • A set of Rules for the Competition (attached)

  • A flyer giving details of the Prizes (to be attached at a later date)

  • Directions to the Studios and Workshops in Wood Green (attached)

  • Directions to Bruce Castle Museum and Gallery (attached)

The Prize Giving and the Private View will be held in February 2019 at a date to be arranged, this is because our Gallery is about half the size of our usual display area and it may be necessary to show the work in two separate events, in order that artists have equal exposure for their work either before or after Christmas. We will have to set the judge’s decisions and our private view towards the end of our allocated time, so please keep in touch.

It’s also hoped to show films about autism, or at least about autistic themes, autistic central characters, autistic dilemmas and so on which I’m sure some of you will welcome as light relief. I will also try to find informed speakers, at least for the Private View and persuade dignitaries to open the proceedings.

If you would like an Entry Form, Rules of the Competition, details of where to drop your artwork or directions to the Private Viewing of Exhibited Artwork, please write to me (Ian Wilson) at the contact details at the bottom of this page.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your interest and participation. The cost of entry has been reduced to £10 per picture in order to encourage more entries following some just comments last time around; no one should feel excluded by the cost. One of my greatest pleasures is organising this competition and meeting so many kind, generous and passionate people, whether artists or just mum and dad.
