Psychology Department

Hoffmann Foundation for Autism's Psychology Department provides a range of services tailored to the individual's needs, including counselling, social skills groups and assessments. We provide counselling and group-work support, for families and friends of those on the autistic spectrum. All our services are for adults only.

The service can help with a range of problems:

    • Self help
    • Communication
    • Expanding leisure activities
  • Management of symptoms:
    • Stress
    • Anxiety
    • Depression
    • Anger
  • Learning to regulate oneself and develop inhibitions
  • Self-awareness and self-worth

Will and Michael

The psychology service was established in October 2000, and has managed the referral and assessment process for prospective service users. The team works alongside staff with residents in the homes, and students at the day centre primarily to develop strategies for managing challenging behaviour and to promote choice, independence, respect, dignity, community presence and participation.
