KingsburyThe House
The house has a large kitchen/dining room, a sensory room equipped with soft furnishings and a music system and a training kitchen where structured sessions are carried out.
Residents
The service users - four men and two women - all have autism spectrum disorders together with learning, communication and behavioural difficulties; Residents require 24 hour support to lead near normal lives. Service users can expect that they will at all times be treated with dignity and privacy, and have opportunities for maintaining and improving their independence. Leisure activitiesLeisure activities feature highly on the agenda. One service user attends music therapy sessions at Nordoff Robbins and two go to a Social Club held every Monday evening, where they have games and other activities. General activities include visits to the pub, restaurants, cinema, walks and visits to see family. They also go on annual holidays in the UK or abroad. All six service users participate in a range of activities such as massage, music therapy, communication skills, art and craft. Relationships with outside bodies StaffThe staff team, comprising a support manager, one deputy manager, two senior support workers and four support workers, have undertaken a range of training, including specialist autism training, support for mental health problems, medication and statutory training, as well as bereavement and loss. The team is supported by our autism manager and consultant who provides specialist advice around service users' needs and behaviour management. Several staff are pursuing NVQ2 and NVQ3 in care. Support managers and deputies are fully involved in developing the Hoffmann Foundation's strategic plan and managing their budgets. Our policies, based on the requirements of the Care Standards Act, are developed In-house and tested out in the units before being adopted by the organisation. Contacts
