ResidentsThe residents: to date two men and two woman, with an average age of 60, have a range of support needs including mental health, mild learning disabilities, and autism. The Foundations has been making plans for their encroaching old age which include adjusting the physical environment of the home to allow for reduced mobility, as well as considering their health and social needs hence a lift is fitted. Residents are fully involved in the day to day management of the house, they contribute and participate in their monthly residents' meeting which allows them to air their views on the service. One service user is on the Brent Advocacy Group, which give a voice to those with learning disabilities. The residents have an advocate provided by Brent PCT to discuss issues such as finance, rights, and how to make a complaint. | |
Leisure activitiesLeisure activities feature highly on the agenda. These include: pub visits, cinema and many trips out to shows and films. All the residents enjoy holidays annually, both in the UK and abroad. They also use the local college for hair and nail care, aromatherapy and massage. Some of the residents attend classes in computer studies, drama & dance, needlework & craft and horticulture at the local college. |  |
StaffThe staff team, comprising a support manager, one deputy manager, two senior support workers and four support workers, have undertaken a range of training, including specialist autism training, support for mental health problems, medication and statutory training, as well as bereavement and loss. The team is supported by our autism manager and consultant who provides specialist advice around service users' needs and behaviour management. Several staff are pursuing NVQ2 and NVQ3 in care. Support managers and deputies are fully involved in developing, the Hoffmann Foundation for Autism's strategic plan and managing their budgets. Our policies and procedures are based on the requirements of the Care Standards Act and other Statutory regulations.
