The Hub was opened in 1953 as a special school for children with learning, communication and behavioural difficulties by Alice Hoffmann de Visme MBE. In the 1970's the school became a Day activity centre as there were no provisions back then for the children to attend once they reached the age of 18-19.
The Hub provides a service for people with Autism and learning difficulties. A large majority of the service users have not been formally diagnosed with Autism. We are currently open from Mon-Fri between the hours of 9am-3pm for 51 weeks per year. The Hub is only closed for bank holidays.
We currently have 16 service users attending on different days. Funding is on a 1:1 or 1:3 basis although this can change depending on a service users identified needs.
*We are happy to discuss the individual needs of any potential service user to see if we can provide any activity specifically tailored for them.
